Shane has 15 years of experience in the medical communications industry as a medical writer and editor, supporting a range of pharmaceutical brands and developing marketing collateral, online and interactive materials, training programs, and unbranded medical education content for both professional and lay audiences.

Shane moved into the medical communications arena after 6 years of active involvement in preclinical learning and memory research. He has developed scientific and medical content for projects as diverse as branded and unbranded pharmaceutical websites, sales aids, product monographs, reprint carriers, formulary kits, journal articles, sales training materials, print and electronic physician detailing pieces, clinical reports, health newsletters, slide kits, reference databases, and business proposals. In the capacity of lead medical writer, he has provided scientific, creative, and editorial expertise in such areas as multiple sclerosis, acne vulgaris, diabetes mellitus, HIV/AIDS, epilepsy, breakthrough cancer pain, erectile dysfunction, infectious disease, allergic asthma, osteoarthritis, cystic fibrosis, and growth hormone deficiency.

Shane earned a bachelor’s degree in biology with honors from Alfred University in western New York and master’s and doctoral degrees in behavioral neuroscience from Binghamton University. He and his wife, Kara, live just outside Saratoga Springs, New York, where they pursue interests in historical preservation, antiques, fitness, and music.
